Integrating Resource Selection Information with Spatial Capture-Recapture

چکیده
11 1. Understanding space usage and resource selection is a primary focus of many studies 12 of animal populations. Usually, such studies are based on location data obtained from 13 telemetry, and resource selection functions (RSF) are used for inference. Another important 14 focus of wildlife research is estimation and modeling population size and density. Recently 15 developed spatial capture-recapture (SCR) models accomplish this objective using individual 16 encounter history data with auxiliary spatial information on location of capture. SCR models 17 include encounter probability functions that are intuitively related to RSFs, but to date, no 18 one has extended SCR models to allow for explicit inference about space usage and resource 19 selection. 20 2. In this paper we develop the first statistical framework for jointly modeling space usage, 21

A comparison of linear transect and capture recapture methods results in Iranian Jerboa population density and abundance estimation in Mirabad plains, Shahreza
During a period from spring 2008 till fall 2010, Iranian Jerboa population abundance was estimated using distance (linear transect) and capture-recapture methods in the Mirabad plains near Shahreza city in Isfahan Province. In the study period, during the active time of the species except reproduction time, we tried to live-trap, mark, release and recapture individuals based on Schnabel method ...
متن کاملIntegrating resource selection into spatial capture-recapture models for large carnivores
Wildlife managers need reliable methods to estimate large carnivore densities and population trends; yet large carnivores are elusive, difficult to detect, and occur at low densities making traditional approaches intractable. Recent advances in spatial capture-recapture (SCR) models have provided new approaches for monitoring trends in wildlife abundance and these methods are particularly appli...
متن کاملSpatially explicit maximum likelihood methods for capture-recapture studies.
Live-trapping capture-recapture studies of animal populations with fixed trap locations inevitably have a spatial component: animals close to traps are more likely to be caught than those far away. This is not addressed in conventional closed-population estimates of abundance and without the spatial component, rigorous estimates of density cannot be obtained. We propose new, flexible capture-re...

متن کاملEstimating Collection Size in Distributed Search
Distributed search is an effective way to search information over thousands of information collections available on the web. As an important feature in distributed search, collection size plays a vital role in resource representation and selection. This paper proposes two novel algorithms to estimate collection size in uncooperative environments. Sample high frequent resample (SHFRS) algorithm ...
